Westleigh Juniors Representing Leicestershire!
8 Westleigh Juniors represented Leicestershire this weekend playing fixtures against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. The Girls U13s had Poppy, Annabelle and Darcey all playing in the same team and they did very well drawing with Derbyshire 1st Team, narrowly losing to a strong Northamptonshire 1st team and winning all their other games, Poppy also scored so well done! The Boys U13s played a strong Derbyshire 1st team and lost but they were missing a Goalkeeper! The team then performed well against Derbyshire’s 2nd Team winning that game with 2 goals from Torby and 2 from Jake. Nico and Sam were in the other Leicestershire team which also played very well, with Sam unfortunately getting injured. Sebastien featured for the boys U14s as well.
It was a good experience for all the players and the Club are delighted to be able to provide so many players to the County. Judging by the amount of talented youngsters at the Club we expect to be providing many more players to the County over the coming seasons.
The Club are very proud of all our young players regardless of whether they represent the County or not and we remain committed to providing an inclusive and fun hockey experience for all players from ages 4 and up!
Special Mention to Westleigh Coach James Jelley for stepping in and coaching and managing the girls U13s when one of the County coaches was absent due to illness.
